Цели:
Социокультурный аспект- знакомство с мнениями разных людей о телевидении;
Развивающий аспект – развитие способности оценивать чужое мнение, формулировать выводы, способности осуществлять репродуктивные и продуктивные речевые действия;
Воспитательный аспект – формирование способности к критическому отношению к мнению других людей;
Учебный аспект – совершенствование речевых навыков (монологическая и диалогическая речь).
Оборудование: презентация, раздаточный материал

Ход урока:

1. Оргмомент
Я предлагаю проблемную тему для обсуждения, например: «Телевидение: за и против? Класс делится на две команды. Дается время для выработки аргументов. Одна команда приводит аргументы положительные, другая – отрицательные. Выбирают лидера в группе, который в течение 2 минут делает презентацию своей команды.
T: How are you? How is your family?
P: I’m good. Thanks. It’s fine. Thank you.
T: It’s nice that you are fine and everything is OK. It’s important for our lesson today because we try to discuss the problem that touches all of us: “TV: Pros and Cons.” We’ll have two teams. The pupils of the first group will say arguments for TV. The pupils of the second group will say arguments against TV. You‘ ll have some time to discuss this problem. Choose the leader. The leader will tell us everything what you’ve discussed about it.

2. Дебаты
2.1. Выступают лидеры групп
The leader of the first group: Our group accounts, that TV is great! It’s a source of education and pleasure. There are often children's stories, which are dramatized for TV. Such programmes help us very much to prepare for lessons, because we don't have enough time to read all the textbooks. Our life is circulating around "the box". We need to hear it non-stop, whatever is on. The TV voices create the atmosphere of not-being-alone in an empty flat. Of course TV is the easiest and the cheapest source of information. It educates us and gives the opportunity to travel without getting up from the sofa. It makes us participate in current events and in passed away history.

The leader of the second group:
Our group thinks that TV is a waste of time and after you watch for 3 hours your eyes start hurting. And if you do watch TV every day you could soon be wearing glasses. In general there's quite a lot of rubbish on TV. We shouldn't forget that our informative and educating friend sometimes substitutes our nearest and dearest as it doesn't demand any warmth and understanding on our side. It steals us from the family and friends and makes us more indifferent towards their problems. Besides watching TV is only one more illusion of living. It prevents us from thinking, and acting. Commonplace, fear, frank nonsense that sometimes come from the screen crawl into our minds and distort our understanding of real values. In fact it also damages our health. We are captured by TV nets. And our existence is limited by the frame of a television.
2.2. Затем в дебаты вступают спикеры из каждой команды по очереди, т.е. спикер №1 из первой команды и спикер №1 из второй команды. Каждый спикер выдвигает один аргумент и приводит доказательства.
P1: In my opinion TV is a great force in the world. We get a great amount of information by mass media, especially television. I agree with my dad that we must watch TV to be well informed. It gives wonderful possibilities for education. It enriches our intellect. gives us opportunities to see the best actors und performances, to hear the latest news, to listen to political discussions.
P1. You are right. But there are a lot of rubbish violence on TV. You can see many films with murders. I think TV influences teenagers’ lives much. Violence teen pregnancy AIDS cases are increasing.
P2. To my mind TV is one of our most important means of communication because it brings moving pictures and sounds from around the world into millions of homes.
P2. I account that TV is absolutely irrelevant to real living. No surprise that television is often called “chewing gum for men’s brains”. People become lazy instead o f doing sports they watch TV. Television takes free time of the people. Instead of joining a choir or playing football or reading books people watch various programmes.
P3. Besides, there is a considerable variety of programmes. We can. choose what we want to see. Here is a list of different TV programmes: Current Affairs, Documentary, Sport, Film, Play, The Arts, News, Educational, Variety Show. As the aim of television is to attract as many viewers as possible, there is no escape from the dictates of popular tastes.
P3. I believe that television makes us its slave. Nowadays some people in our country watch television programmes from about six in the morning to the early hours of the next day. It means that contemporary people for various reasons depend upon television. They watch everything from news and sports reports to dramas educational and entertainment programmes. Today some people become TV addicts and feel unhappy if they fail to find another way of passing leisure time.
P4. It's an absurd idea that television makes us its slave. Television provides great opportunities for education. There are programmes devoted to specialized subjects. With the help of TV it is possible to learn foreign languages, to know a lot of wonderful things concerning the world flora and fauna. TV teaches the ideals of democracy and political argument.
P4. Moreover, TV is damaging for health. It has bad effect on the eyes, particularly of children. The physicians proved that if children do not watch TV their eyesight improves. But if children do not watch TV they find themselves without anything to talk about at school, where comedians and singing stars are major topics during break s between classes.
2.3. В заключении выступают капитаны, суммируя всё сказанное.
3. Ask questions each other
После выступления всех членов команды оппоненты задают друг другу вопросы.
1. What TV program is your favourite?
- "The Man and the Woman" (is).
2. Does this program deal with political and social problems of modern society?
- This program aims at giving an analysis of the problems and to show different viewpoints.
3. Are there any kazakh programs on TV?
- There are many kazakh programs on TV. They are: news, the weather forecast, musical, nature programs and others.
4. Which programs are interesting for you?
- I think news is interesting for me. This program helps me to know about events which have happened in Kazakhstan and in the world.
5. Does TV help you to prepare for lessons?
- Certainly. As for me Nature program is important because it helps me to prepare for lessons.
6. Are there all programs important?
- I don’t think because there are a lot of commercial TV programs where you can see many rubbish and entertainment programs because they want to attract larger numbers of viewers in order to sell advertising time at high prices.
7. Do you like to watch TV?
- Sometimes I like to watch TV. But I do not spend much time in front of this “one- eyed monster” I watch only my favourite programmes.
8. What programmes do members of your family like to watch?
- My parents like to watch “Civilization”. This programme is devoted to outstanding personalities and events. It is very informative. They also like documentaries devoted to something unusual. I like to listen to music therefore I watch musical programme. My favourite program is ‘Before 16 and later”. We discuss films, show and sports programs, talk shows, TV games, news issues and also correspondent's image.
9. Are you a “coach potato”?
- Yes, I'm a "coach potato", I watch TV or video in the comfort of my home, when the weather’s bad and people are inside anyway. I like watching nature programs, cartoons and sport programs all day long. It's fun, if you have nothing else to do.
10. Are you for or against TV?
- In my opinion TV is my friend and my enemy at the same time. The trick is to use it carefully. I shouldn't afford it to switch me out of my own life.
4. Подведение итогов
В заключении команда судей выносит решение о том, чьи аргументы были более убедительными. Судьи оценивают логику доказательств, аргументы. Победителей при проведении дебатов не должно быть, так как выдвинутое в начале дискуссии утверждение должно предполагать 2 разные точки зрения на него, а значит, проблема не может иметь единственного решения.
5. Рефлексия. Напишите на стикерах насколько вы продвинулись в знаниях и каково ваше психологическое состояние.
